The arrest of nine people for fighting during Dothan’s last Foster Fest has prompted police to add more security for next month’s gathering.
The popular downtown event draws thousands each month during the spring and summer. However, a skirmish disrupted Friday’s event. Of the nine people arrested Friday evening, seven were juveniles.
Following a meeting of police and the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority, which oversees Foster Fest, Dothan Police announced more officers will work the next event, scheduled for July 5.
In addition to the increased uniformed officers, police will use undercover officers, video surveillance and increased security lighting, according to the department.
