Fairfield Inn shooting

A woman with an apparent gunshot wound made her way to the front desk of the Fairfield Inn in Dothan early Sunday morning.

A man suspected of shooting a woman at a Dothan hotel early Sunday morning has surrendered to police.

According to reports, Tyshawn William Fearrington, 32, voluntarily turned himself in on Sunday evening and surrendered the weapon.

A woman stumbled down the hall to the front desk of a crowded Dothan hotel early Sunday morning, the apparent victim of a gunshot that set off a response from Dothan Police tactical teams.

The incident happened around 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning at Dothan's Fairfield Inn, just off Ross Clark Circle near Applebee's. The woman was transported to a local hospital and her condition is not currently known.

The incident was first reported by RickeyStokesNews and WDHN.

According to reports, police responded to the call with SWAT personnel after it was believed the suspect may have remained in the hotel where the shooting occurred. SWAT made entry into the room about two hours later, but the suspect was not there.

Dothan hotels are often near capacity, especially on weekends when the city hosts sporting events or during the summer when travelers stop over in Dothan on their way to Florida for vacation.
