District 5 Commissioner Beth Kenward and District 4 Commissioner John Ferguson questioned the advance travel requests submitted by some city departments. City policy states that city-related travel requiring at least an overnight stay must be pre-approved by the commission. However, Kenward said five requests up for approval Tuesday were for travel that had already been completed.
“I don’t think any of us have a problem with the type of travel being done, but we absolutely have to stick to our procedures,” Kenward said after reading from the city’s travel policy.

Kenward and Ferguson questioned tardy travel requests last summer as well.
