The Ashford Area Chamber of Commerce is working non-stop in preparation for the many events taking place in Ashford during the month of June.
Ashford officially kicked off its farmers market in the Ashford Depot, 309 Main Street. The farmers market will run each Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11a.m. until August. The market offers a wide selection of fresh vegetable from local farmers. Items available include peaches, tomatoes, cantaloupes, okra, cucumbers, collards, onions, and snap beans.
The farmers market is sponsored each year by the Ashford Chamber of Commerce.
“We have several events taking place to go along with our farmers market,” said Ashford Area Chamber of Commerce President Kim Vann. The Ashford Lions Club extended its annual community wide yard sale last week to include this weekend. So, those who plan to stop by and visit our annual farmers market can also stop by the Ashford Rescue Squad to support the Ashford Lions Club yard sale.”
On June 21, the chamber will host a Social Media Class at 10 a.m. at the Ashford Depot.
“This event is a three-series class from beginner to advanced-level,” Vann said. “These classes are designed to help promote and market local businesses.
The chamber is also planning its annual Picnic in the Park which is scheduled for June 29.
“Last year we had a great turnout for this event,” Vann said. “We are anticipating an even larger crowd this year.
Picnic in the Park will be held at the Ashford Recreational Park on June 29 with activities beginning at 5 p.m.
The event will be filled with waterslides, inflatables, food vendors, games, carnival rides, and a 80s rock band providing live entertainment throughout the event. The annual event will conclude with a firework display.
“This is our way of giving back to the community as we all come together to celebrate our independence,” Vann said. “I encourage everyone to mark their calendars for this great event, bring your lawn chairs and wear your swim suits, as we all celebrate the Fourth of July during Ashford’s annual Picnic at the Park.”
Donations to enjoy the event will be taken up at the park entrance. Donations will go towards the chamber’s fall festival, which is scheduled for October.
