Ben Morehead joins SIG

Judy Morehead, co-owner of Southern Investment Group Inc., welcomes her son Ben to the group as Headland’s own real estate broker. Ben is no stranger to the Headland area. He grew up in the area and attended the Henry School System.

Southern Investment group Inc. was established as a financial firm in 2003. It grew into a very successful business.

After 20 years of dedicated service to her clients, a base that covered in 10 states in the securities industry, Judy Morehead retired from that side of the business. She currently stays involved with the individual, family and business management side of things.

“My focus is on making sure the things that should be taken cared of are identified and in place,” Mrs. Morehead said. “I have found solutions for individuals and businesses all my life. It is something I truly enjoy. Whether it is evaluating the needs of a business or evaluating the needs of a family, it is all about listening and finding the right solutions to make the day-to-day activities run smoother and with less stress.”

Morehead is married to Stan Morehead, who is the program manager for Picerne Military Housing located at Eglin Air Force Base.

Early in 2012, the Moreheads decided to add a real estate arm to the business. Morehead and her son Ben, co-owners of the business, have worked diligently to help families and businesses meet their needs.

“We are very excited about the real estate arm of the business,” Mrs. Morehead said. “I am also very pleased to welcome Ben as the co-owner of SIG Inc. He loves the Headland area, and it was his idea to open the real estate arm here in Headland.”

Ben represents the third generation involved in real estate. Sitting on a bucket in the back of his grandfather’s van, he went on the jobs and watched the process of hanging, taping and painting drywall. Construction continued to be a part of his life as his family purchased Dothan Portable Buildings in 1995 and sold homes in the Headland area. At 15, Ben was framing, wiring and plumbing all the while learning every part of the process associated with home building.

He took those years of experience to help decide what his future would hold. He got his real estate license and in 2012 obtained his broker’s license. At that time he opened the real estate arm of Southern Investment Group Inc.

“A home is a major investment,” the younger Morehead said. “Whether you are buying or selling, it is an important time for a family. My goal is to help make the transition as smooth as possible. I want to be that one you call when you need help selling or buying your home. I want to have a one-on-one relationship with my clients. I want them to know I am here, and I will be up front and honest with them on what is best for their family and their future.

“My job is, if they are selling their home, for it to be on the market no longer than it has to be. If my client is purchasing a home, it is my job to help them find the home they want for the price range they must stay within.
