Watermark Church and the Ashford Recreation Department will host Field of Dreams Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at the Ashford Recreation Department, located at 800 Eighth Ave.
This event is being held as a way for members of sports teams and members of the community to unite for a community day at the park.
“I was actually approached by the Ashford Recreation Director Louis Edmonson,” said Watermark Student Pastor Dustin Rivenbark. “Louis felt the need to do something special at the field to help get everyone in the community together to enjoy a beautiful day at the park, and there is no better time to enjoy a beautiful day at the park than Easter weekend. So, that’s how Field of Dreams came about. I commend Louis for wanting to do something special for the community.”
Field of Dreams will be an open-park day to everyone in the Ashford Community. A pavilion will be setup where people can set up lawn chairs and enjoy being ministered to by a portion of Watermark’s high school youth and Rivenbark.
“I believe this is a special way for the community to come together to celebrate Easter and the day which the Lord hath made,” Rivenbark said. “The mission of Watermark is to love God, love people, and to serve the people, and I am extremely grateful Louis thought to host an event like this for the residents of Ashford.”
Rivenbark said if the event goes well, plans are to make this an annual event.
“I event everyone in the community to attend Saturday’s event,” Rivenbark said. “The event is going to be filled with worship, music and fellowship.”
