The Heart of Headland, which an organization supporting the town’s downtown area, will kick off its Under the Oaks concert series on April 26 at 6 p.m. on the square in Headland.
Headland is part of the Main Street Alabama Network and is working on the application to become a Main Street Alabama Designation City. During previous Heart of Headland meetings, those in attendance voiced concerns for bringing additional entertainment to the square.
“The square is truly the heart of Headland,” said Headland Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rhonda Harrison. “So the organization decided to host Under the Oaks.”
The Under the Oaks concert series will be held the fourth Friday of every month beginning in April, and concluding in September.
“The series will kick off next Friday, and feature “Oddly Enough,” a Dothan band known for its performances in classic rock and blues,” Harrison said.
During Under the Oaks, several downtown businesses will extend their hours of operation for shoppers.
“Not only will several businesses be open later during the event, but our restaurants will also extend their hours, offering a variety of food items for those attending the event,” Harrison said. “We will have food vendors setup to meet everyone’s dining needs.”
Under the Oaks is a family oriented event, open to the public with no admission fee.
“Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and plan on having a night full of musical entertainment in Headland,” Harrison said.
As part of the evening entertainment, New South Cruisers Car Club will host a cruise-in on Park and Grove streets around the town square.
