A woman reported last seen in Headland April 17 was found Monday when emergency crews responded to a report of an automobile accident near Rehobeth. Authorities now believe the accident may have occurred days earlier.
The call came to dispatch at 12:31 p.m. Monday. When authorities arrived, a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant was located in a ditch on County Road 203 near McDaniel Road and the Limestone Creek bridge. A female driver was entrapped.
According to Headland Police and Alabama State Troopers, the woman was identified as Robin Joyce Fancher, who was last seen Wednesday, April 17, at Greentree Apartments in Headland. She was reported missing two days later and the Headland Police Department released information to the public April 20.
According to a release from the Alabama State Troopers, Fancher’s vehicle was not easily visible from motorists along County Road 203 and the crash may have occurred several days earlier.
First responders worked feverishly to remove her from the vehicle. Due to the location of the motorist and how the car had been positioned in the ditch, it took around 90 minutes to extricate Fancher from the vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment where she was in stable condition with multiple injuries according to a family member.
