Food, rides, music and – of course – fireworks will highlight Fort Rucker’s annual Freedom Fest event to celebrate the nation’s independence.
The Army post announced a schedule of events for the celebration, which will take place Wednesday, July 3, from 4 until 10 p.m. at the Fort Rucker Festival Fields on post.
The music will be provided by the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band.
The schedule of events is as follows:
» 4 - 10 p.m. - Food and craft vendors open
» 4 - 10 p.m. - Rides operation (Fees vary, some activities may close early)
Kids Fun Zone
» 4 - 9 p.m. - Kids Confidence Course (Free)
» 4 - 9 p.m. - Inflatable Fun World (Fees apply)
Main Stage Field
» 7 p.m. - Opening remarks
» 7 p.m. - Historic and National colors posted, National Anthem
» 7:10 p.m. - Commanding general's welcome
» 7:15 - 8 p.m. - MCoE Band first set with Tribute to Wounded Warriors
» 8 - 8:10 p.m. - Intermission
» 8:10 - 9 p.m. - MCoE Band second set
» 9 - 9:30 p.m. – Fireworks
Several items are prohibited from being brought on post, including weapons, glass containers, pets, roller blades, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, coolers, tote bags, or backpacks (except for medical and baby care items).
Cell phone use is prohibited on post while operating a motor vehicle.
Visitors without an escort onto post for the event must obtain a visitor’s badge at one of the post’s Visitor Control Centers near the Daleville and Ozark gates. The Daleville center is open Monday-Sunday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the Ozark center Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Residents will need a valid government issued photo ID to obtain a visitor’s badge. When entering the post for the celebration, present the visitor’s badge and photo ID to security.
