Alabama is among the most dangerous states for motorcyclists, according to a recent study by insurance broker quotewizard.com.
Alabama ranks No. 15 with 79 motorcycle fatalities in 2017 for 7.04 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles. Mississippi ranked as the worst state for bikers, more than twice as dangerous with 14.22 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles.
The safest state: Montana. With more than 300,000 registered motorcycles, Montana saw only 23 motorcycle fatalities -- .75 per 10,000.
Analysts at quotewizard.com compared 2017 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) fatality figures in each state with 2017 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) motorcycle registration data to find which states had the highest rate of fatalities.
