A ninth-grade English Teacher at Huffman High School in Birmingham is one of the latest deaths reported in the Dominican Republic.

Alicia Renette Williams, 45, died recently in the Dominican Republic, and her body was brought back to Alabama Monday, June 17.

Williams traveled to the Caribbean Island to have elective procedures on Sunday, June 22. After the operation, she suffered from complications to include blood clots.

William received her bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University and went on to earn her master’s degree in English. She is the mother of 14-year-old son.
