Headland’s Jesse Kinsey earned two steals in the last 10 seconds, one leading to a K’shun Stokes go-ahead score, to help the Rams earn a 57-55 win over Dale County and take the Daleville Christmas Tournament Saturday night.
Stokes, the tournament MVP, led the Rams with 23 points. Tyler Danzey and Kinsey both earned 11 points.
For Dale County, Damarius Jenkins had 16, Keshaun Martin 14 and Virgil Crawford 12.
Dale County 62, Daleville 57: In the late game Friday, Keshaun Martin scored 30 and Damarius Jenkins 12 for Dale County.
Kentayvis Valrie scored 18 and Shemar Dixon 16 for Daleville.
Daleville tournament all-tournament team: In addition to Stokes being named MVP, Headland’s Patrick Burke and Danzey and Dale County’s Jenkins and Martin were named to the all-tournament team.
Also named to the all-tournament team were Carroll’s Marquise Barrow and Elijah Terry, Daleville’s Shemar Dixon and Kentayvis Valrie, Pike County’s Andres Burney and Kevon Harris, G.W. Long’s Kobe Stringer and Braxton Whitehead, Samson’s Dillon Harty and Hayden McCoy and New Brockton’s Caleb Hurley and Drew Cashin.
Pike Liberal Arts 68, Northside Methodist 52: At the Abbeville Christian Holiday Tournament on Saturday night, the Knights fell to the Patriots.
Jack Anderson had 26 points and Witt Warren 14 points and 12 rebounds for Northside Methodist. Both were named to the all-tournament team.
Emmanuel Christian 74, Abbeville Christian 66 : Hunter Starling had 21 points as ACA fell to Emmanuel Christian Saturday night at the Abbeville Christian Holiday Hoops Classic.
Jackson Blalock earned 14 and 10 rebounds, JJ Jimenez had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Chris Davis had seven points with 11 rebounds for ACA.
Opp 52, Red Level 49: Opp edged Red Level at the Andalusia Christmas Tournament, improving to 3-4.
Erik Matthews had 10 points and Bryan Matthews, Lane Ballard and Logan Ross added nine points each.
Chance Russell led Red Level with 18 points. Joel Phillips added nine and Cade Green eight.
Andalusia 53, Georgiana 47: Andalusia defeated Georgiana in the third-place game of the Andalusia Christmas Tournament, 53-47.
Georgiana (7-2) was led By Lecedric Haynes with 16 points.
Wiregrass Kings 57, Byne Christian (Ga.) 49: The Kings overcame a 31-19 halftime lead to earn the win.
Caleb Miller had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots and Jake Herndon had 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Abbeville Christian wins tourney: Abbeville Christian won its own tournament, the Abbeville Christian Holiday Hoops Classic, on Saturday night, beating Northside Methodist 54-45 in the finals.
Tournament MVP Joiner Hughes had 36 points, eight rebounds and five steals and Analeigh Givens had 10 points and four rebounds. Anna Grace Blalock had 11 rebounds and Josey Tyler 10 rebounds.
Givens and Thomas earned all-tournament honors for ACA (10-2).
NMA was led by Mackenzie Eiland with 16 points and five rebounds and Ashlyn Simpson with eight points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
Walton (Fla.) 66, Geneva County 52: At the Cats against Cancer Tournament in Paxton, Fla., the Lady Dawgs fell to Walton despite 35 points from Karoline Striplin and 13 from Jordyn Alston.
Abbeville Christian girls 29, Pike Liberal Arts 18: Host Abbeville Christian won its Holiday Hoops Classic title, beating Pike Liberal Arts.
Tournament MVP Caroline Armstrong led ACA with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. All-tournament team member Anna Grace Blalock had six points and 13 rebounds and Brooke Hallman had six points and three steals.
Abbeville Christian boys 43, Northside Methodist 21: Dillon Mims had 13 points and made the all-tournament team. Conner Hutto also had 13 points.
Zion Chapel wins tourney: Zion Chapel won the Elba B Team Christmas Tournament by defeating Dale County 37-30 in the finals.
The Rebels went 4-1 in the tourney, beating Dale County 40-36, Elba 43-34 and G.W. Long 44-43. Zion Chapel then lost 43-41 to Dale County before winning the rematch for the title, 37-30.
In the first win over Dale County, Connor Kelley had 13 points and Bryce Watson eight. In the win over Elba, Kelley had 13, Brady Cobb eight and Paden Knight seven. In the win over G.W. Long, Cobb had 13, Zay Adair 10 and Kelley eight.
In the championship round loss to Dale County, Kelley had 12, Cobb 10 and Adair and Bryce Watson each had eight. In the title game win over Dale County, Knight and Watson each had six points, while Kelley, Nate Braistead and Cobb each scored five.
