The father of a toddler who died in a hot car on Friday is facing marijuana charges after being arrested by Dothan police a few hours after the discovery of his son’s body.
36-year old Robert Patrick King’s arrest came after officers say they found the drug inside King’s residence.
Investigators believe two-year-old Castiel King climbed into a Mazda parked on Lace Drive off Prevatt Road about 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon and stayed there until an older sibling found him about four hours later.
According to Dothan Police Lt. Lynn Watkins, the department is waiting on the official autopsy report to be released to determine if any additional steps need to be taken.
Paramedics rushed the toddler to Southeast Health where he was pronounced dead.
Police are currently collecting search warrants and video that may be available from nearby homes. The investigation is ongoing.
King's arrest was first reported by WTVY.
